Welcome to UQ’s Sustainable Timber Student Chapter Launch! Join us for an exciting event at The University of Queensland, Advanced Engineering Building (49) – Room 313A. This FREE in-person gathering will bring together students passionate about the use of sustainable timber as one of the most environmentally friendly building materials available. Come meet like-minded individuals, learn about our chapter’s goals, and get involved in our upcoming education seminars.

PLEASE NOTE – this launch is now available to attend online.  Please register and a Zoom link will be sent to you before the event.

Timber is the ultimate renewable. Trees capture and store carbon and are renewable, recyclable and biodegradable. When we choose sustainably and responsibly harvested timber over other materials, we reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and their consequent carbon emissions.

The Sustainable Timber Student Chapter is a brand new student chapter focused on wood and timber sustainability across all aspects of the value chain. Our Student Chapter aims to encourage more student interest into the area of sustainable timber to mirror ongoing industry and academic developments – many of which have been made possible through the Australian Research Council (ARC) Advance Timber Hub that is administered by UQ.

Our launch includes a presentation outlining the Student Chapter, what sustainable timber involves and the opportunities in the area and at UQ, followed by free pizza and networking.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be part of a community dedicated to promoting sustainable timber – the ultimate renewable material!
