About

Diego Elustondo has a decade-long background as a Scientist in timber manufacturing at FPInnovations, the Canadian forest research institute. Additionally, he spent four years as a Chaired Professor in Wood Physics at Lulea University of Technology in Sweden. Presently, he serves as the Team Leader at Scion in Aotearoa New Zealand, specializing in Decentralized Manufacturing and Environmental Technologies. With his extensive expertise, Diego Elustondo hopes to contribute valuable insights to the ARC Advance Timber Hub. His experience encompasses various areas, including sawmilling, drying, thermo-mechanical and chemical modification, as well as biomass processing into chemicals and energy. Furthermore, he possesses a keen interest in applying circular economy principles to urban environments, recognizing that this goes beyond a mere economic model by incorporating societal aspects.
