Paulo Henrique dos Santos Silvares is a PhD Candidate at the University of the Sunshine Coast, working within the ARC Advance Timber Hub. His research focuses on moisture dynamics, hygroscopic properties and mould development in mass timber systems, to produce predictive tools to support industry decision-making and improve the long-term durability of timber structures. His work also explores strategies for mould mitigation and control, thereby strengthening the sector’s capacity to manage moisture-related risks. Overall, his research contributes directly to the Hub’s mission of advancing innovative, sustainable, and resilient timber solutions for the built environment
