About

Dr Rob McGavin is a Senior Research Scientist with the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries. He has nearly 30 years of experience in forest product R,D&E with particular focus on processing systems that maximise the utilisation of under-utilised forest resources, and using the recovered fibre in the manufacture of high-value engineered wood products. He has extensive experience developing and leading national and international R,D&E projects that have strong industry linkages and bring together multidisciplinary teams. He also managers the Salisbury Research Facility in Brisbane, which is Australia’s largest forest product research capacity. He holds a number of adjunct positions at various universities including The University of Queensland, Fiji National University, Griffith University and the University of Sunshine Coast.
