About

Tom is a timber engineer with experience working both in academia and in industry. Tom completed his PhD in Earthquake Engineering at the University of Canterbury (New Zealand) investigating the seismic performance and repair of novel screw timber hold-down connections for timber shear wall structures. After graduating Thomas worked as a consulting engineer in New Zealand getting hands on experience at the many challenges when designing large timber structures. Joining the University of Queensland and the ARC Advance Timber Hub Tom hopes his research can solve some of these key challenges and provide clear guidance for industry.
