About
Joseph Yassa is a PhD researcher at the University of Queensland within the ARC Advance Timber Hub’s Project 1.2, Connection Systems for Extended Building Life. Prior to his PhD, Joseph worked at Jacobs as a structural engineer in the water industry, designing liquid retaining structures and delivering major water infrastructure projects across Australia and New Zealand. He holds a Bachelors of Engineering from the University of Canterbury, and a Masters of Civil Engineering endorsed in Structural Engineering with Distinction from the University of Auckland.
Joseph has a passion about sustainable construction through research that strengthens the long-term performance of timber structures. His work will focus on connection systems that enhance structural adaptability and extend the service life of buildings. By expanding the body of knowledge in this space, Joseph aims to support more resilient, lower-carbon built environments.
