Influence of CLT and Glulam Manufacturing Variables on Vibration and Acoustic Performance
Project Under Development
This project aims to investigate the influence various manufacturing properties and feedstock variables may have on the vibration and acoustic performance of CLT and glulam. The project aims at producing:
- A better understanding of the influence cross laminated timber (CLT) and glued laminated timber (glulam) feedstock properties and manufacturing parameters (aspect ratio, grade of material, species, adhesive, layup configuration) may have on lesser understood properties, mainly vibration, acoustics, and damping.
- Identify opportunities for improved application performance in buildings from a comfort perspective while considering the influence on related mechanical properties.
Outputs of the project will consist of significant data regarding the influence different manufacturing parameters and feedstock variables can have on the EWP types vibration and acoustic properties. This information will provide the necessary link between producers and developers and directly compliments the activities in Project 1.1.
